"Levels of care were developed by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC) and are a useful tool for evaluating the appropriateness and quality of specialized epilepsy care. A Level 4 Epilepsy Center should provide the more complex forms of intensive neurodiagnostic monitoring, such as video EEG, as well as more extensive medical, neuropsychological, and psychosocial treatment. Fourth-level centers also offer a complete evaluation for epilepsy surgery, including intracranial electrodes, and provide a broad range of surgical procedures for epilepsy."  MINCEP was the first comprehensive epilepsy center in the United States and has served as a model for epilepsy centers throughout the world. MINCEP is a change organization. We improve what we do and how we do it every month of the year. Unfortunately, many institutions put a sign on the door and claim they have an epilepsy center. Most do not meet the standards of the National Association of Epilepsy Centers for a Level 4 epilepsy center. MINCEPs strict standards as a center of excellence even exceed the NAEC requirements. MINCEP was a founding member of NAEC.
